The annual Ponds corporate games retreat starts this week, so I won't be walking through the tunnel for a while. Should be back in a fortnight, unless there’s some sort of terrible paintball incident.

I found a website about the Public Art Squad, who painted the old murals in the tunnel (their site says it was 1987, but some of the murals are dated 1986). Turns out they're a professional outfit who've had plenty of private and public commissions over the years. It's worth flicking through the site, they've done lots of interesting work.
